Irish Water Seeks Details On Clare County Council Tenants

Clare County Council has confirmed it has received a request from Irish Water in relation to the authority's tenants.

Irish Water has written to every local authority in the country requesting details of all tenancy agreements.

In a letter – seen by Clare FM – the new utility says it requires the name and address of all council tenants, and the date their tenancy began.

However the document stresses it does NOT require PPS numbers in this instance.

A spokesperson for Clare County Council has confirmed to Clare FM that it has received the correspondence and that it will comply with all of its legal obligations in relation to Irish Water.

Concern has been raised nationally about the utility requesting the names and addresses of anyone living in social housing.
