It could be the New Year before details of an investigation into an incident at an Ennis Dental Clinic, which led to children being treated with drain cleaner, come to light.
15 children presented with symptoms including blistering on gums and nausea just under two months ago, after being treated at the HSE’s clinic on Bindon Street.
It’s believed a bottle of potassium hydroxide was mixed with water for use in a three in one spray, instead of approved dental products.
Lab results were returned at the end of October and a report was due to be finalised by the end of November, but the HSE has confirmed that the investigation has been extended by a further four weeks.
Ennis Independent Councillor Ann Norton, who’s a member of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West, has expressed disappointment over the delay:
