Indian Native Claims Daughter Left “In Trauma” Following Shannon Bullying Incident

An Indian native living in Shannon claims her daughter has been left “in trauma” after an alleged racially-motivated bullying incident.

Shazia Shaikh claims her seven year-old, who has reduced vision, was playing in Shannon Town Park last Saturday evening when two teenage girls began to shake the climbing apparatus she was on and refused to allow her to come down.

It’s just one of several abusive incidents her family is said to have experienced within the last year and comes in a week when President Michael D Higgins labelled recent attacks on the Indian community as “despicable”.

Shazia says the response has reduced her faith in the Gardaí to police the town.
