HSE warns public not to attend A+E at Ennis or Limerick regional

The HSE is urging people not to attend the emergency departments at Ennis General or Limerick Regional if at all possible as both hospitals are operating at full capacity.

Nursing staff say the situation at Dooradoyle was particularly chronic yesterday with 36 patients stuck on trollies and chairs there, while in Clare on Tuesday there was one nurse to deal with a ward of 22 acutely ill patients.

Its now dealing with an outbreak of the Novo Virus which has led to a ward closure and reduced bed capacity and Nurses want the HSE’s major incident plan to be put in place to deal with the situation across both hosptials.
