The Minister for Health claims reopening the Emergency Department in Ennis is inadvisable on patient safety grounds
Stephen Donnelly began his visit to the town this week by officially opening the Local Injury Unit at Ennis General, ahead of formally launching the Primary Care Centre on Station Road later today.
The visit comes amid the findings of HIQA’s latest inspection at University Hospital Limerick which found patient dignity and privacy to be impacted by overcrowding for the second year in a row.
Despite UHL’s Emergency Department receiving a record 292 presentations on Monday, Minister Donnelly insists reinstating a model three facility in Ennis is not the correct approach at this time.
