Clare’s Independent TD is to review his support of the government as a new Taoiseach is appointed.
Dr Michael Harty has backed the current minority government on an informal basis, but says he’s recently been informed by a government spokesman that his vote has “not been depended upon” for some time.
He’s also expressed frustration that the agreed Programme for Government has not been implemented to his satisfaction.
Dr Harty spoke today on Clare FM’s Morning Focus and you can listen back, here.
Meanwhile, Leo Varadkar has received the backing of his first Clare Fine Gael Councillor.
Ennis Councillor Johnny Flynn has broken ranks with his county colleagues by announcing that he will vote for the Social Protection Minister when ballots are cast tomorrow night.
He joins Clare’s Oireachtas members in backing the front runner in the leadership battle, though the other Clare Fine Gael Councillors who have declared their voting intentions are backing Simon Coveney.
