Government Rejects Call For Review Of Broadband Plan

The government’s rejecting a call for an examination of the National Broadband Plan controversy.

In a Dáil motion, Fianna Fáil’s called for an independent review of the rural broadband project, which has been left with just one bidder.

Clare Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley, who is his party’s Communications Spokesperson says his party withdrew a previous motion on the matter, but that won’t be repeated.

But the Communications Minister Denis Naughten says a review would delay the process by another six months, and would “plunge the whole project into uncertainty”.

Meanwhile, Minister Denis Naughten will pay an official visit to Clare today for a number of engagements in the county.

He’s due to appear on today’s edition of Clare FM’s Morning Focus from 9 o’clock.
