Plans to explore lands in East Clare for gold deposits could create a major industry and employment boost for County Clare and the Mid-West.
That’s according to Conroy Gold and Natural Resources, who are awaiting a prospecting licence for mineral and metal deposits on lands spanning almost 90 townlands in the Killaloe and Broadford areas.
The Minister for Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte is expected to grant the licence to the Dublin based company, allowing them to explore the East Clare area for base metals, though objectors have 21 days to lodge their concerns.
If the licence is granted, Conroy Gold would begin taking soil samples, in consultation with landowners between Killaloe and Broadford, early next year.
