Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road crash in east Clare overnight.
A man in his forties remains in a critical condition in hospital following the incident, near Bodyke.
Emergency services were alerted shortly before midnight last night following a single vehicle collision on the R352 at Ballynahinch, Bodyke.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Scariff station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí.
The driver of the car, a man in his forties who was the sole occupant, was subsequently brought by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment for serious injuries.
He remains in a critical condition.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road remains closed, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
Any road users travelling on the R352 at Ballynahinch, Bodyke between 11 o’clock last night and and midnight, who may have camera or dash-cam footage, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
