Futureproof Clare claims the Government is portraying a false narrative around plans to import LNG, claiming it will be used to power data centres rather than provide energy security.
The group is one of over 1,000 signatories of an open letter to Climate, Environment and Energy Minister, Darragh O’Brien, calling for a total ban on LNG terminals in Ireland.

The letter cites high costs to the taxpayer and the potential for serious public health issues among their objections to plans for an LNG storage unit in Kildysart.
Futureproof Clare Spokesperson, Dr Sinead Sheehan, says there’s also no proof LNG terminals will provide energy security as Government claims.
