There’s been a fresh spike in trolley numbers at the region’s main hospital.
According to the INMO, there were 76 patients awaiting a bed at University Hospital Limerick this morning; 47 of those on trolleys in the emergency department alone.

The figure is almost 20 more than the next busiest facility, Cork University Hospital, while it’s just nine off UHL’s record figure of 85 on a single day.
Nationally, almost 600 patients were awaiting admission to a hospital when the nurses union carried out their analysis this morning.
