Finance Minister Michael Noonan says the Revenue Commissioner’s plans for shared services is ‘likely’ to impact on it’s office in Ennis.
The Minister had been questioned about the future of up to 100 staff in the Kilrush Road office amid fears for their future there.
Minister Michael Noonan says the Revenue Commissioners have made no decision to transfer their payroll section from Ennis to a site in Mayo.
However, in a written answer to a parliamentary question submitted by Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley, the Minister did admit that proposals for an inegrated payroll mechanism for the Civil Service is ‘likely’ to impact on workers in the county town.
The decision, Minister Noonan concluded, will be ‘considered in context with the Public Sector Reform Plan’ which is explicitly provided for in the Croke Park Agreement.
Late last month, union officials moved to allay fears that a major redeployment of workers from Ennis was on the cards, after senior Revenue officials travelled to Clare to meet with personnel on the Kilrush Road regarding the ongoing review
