Ennistymon residents who had opposed the County Council’s plans to alleviate traffic issues at Blake’s Corner have expressed disappointment after they got the go-ahead last evening.
While the traffic black spot has been one of the biggest talking points in Clare in recent years, the local authority’s plan for a new inner relief road was passed unanimously and without any discussion last evening.
Three premises, including homes and businesses, are set to be demolished to allow for the construction of a new bridge, while the derelict Blake’s and Linnane’s buildings will remain.
Fergal O’Connor, whose brother faces seeing his home levelled under the plan, says they’re not accepting it.
