An Ennis man has been promoted to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff (Support) for the Defence Forces.
Adrian Ó Murchú, who was promoted from the rank of Brigadier General, took up his new role on September 29th having been appointed by the government.

General Ó Murchú joined the Defence Forces back in 1982 and served in the FCA in Ennis before that.
He has also been appointed as Major General, having served on tours of duty in Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia and Ivory Coast.
