One person has been hospitalised following a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Ennis this evening.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 5.00pm on the N85 Ennis to Ennistymon road at Fountain close to the former Whelan’s Quarry.
A number of passersby flagged down traffic to warn motorists of the collision ahead and cared for those involved until emergency services arrived.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the scene followed quickly afterwards by National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí. Fire crews had been attending to an incident in Clarecastle and were able to respond to the collision promptly.
Fire crews implemented an emergency traffic management system while paramedics assessed the occupants of the vehicles. One person was transported to University Hospital Limerick for further treatment.
Later, at around 7.20pm, emergency services responded to a road traffic collision on the Limerick Road in Ennis.
National Ambulance Service paramedics, Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the incident.
No serious injuries were reported.
