Efforts to restore East Clare water today

Thousands of households in East Clare are without water again today following a major water mains burst.

Efforts to restore the supply yesterday evening were halted on health and safety grounds.

Parts of Kilmurray, Kilkishen and Tulla are without drinking water this morning due to a major burst on the mains outside Sixmilebridge at around lunchtime yesterday.

Efforts to repair the locate and repair the damaged section of pipe got underway immediately, however had to be halted yesterday evening on health and safety grounds.

Water tankers were temporarily put in place for residents in the affected areas and work to repair the burst main is due to resume this morning.

This  is the second major fault to hit a mains in Clare in the past week – on Wednesday residents and businesses across Shannon Town were left without a supply for most of the day after a burst on the pipes system at Ballycasey.
