The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage sought applications from local authorities earlier this year for funding for capital projects as part of the Multi-annual Rural Water Programme, the current cycle of which is to run until 2026.
Following this, funding of €47.1 million has been approved for 256 projects nationwide to improve water services in rural areas.
Over €6 million has been granted for the taking-in-charge of group water schemes in Ranaghan and Tubber Monreagh, which put in a joint submission.
€2 million has been allocated to the Bodyke Group Water Scheme for the same purpose, while the Raheen Group Water Scheme has received just shy of €600,000.
To provide for water treatment provision, improvements and capital replacement, group water schemes in Kilmaley, Dysart Toonagh and Lissycasey have been awarded almost €330,000.
A further €91,000 has been given to these schemes for the purpose of source protection.
It brings the total amount made available to schemes in Clare to over €9.1 million.
