Over €230,000 has been awarded to water quality improvement projects in Clare.
It forms part of a €2.4 million announcement by the Department of Housing.
A total of 92 projects nationwide have been granted funding through the Community Water Development Fund which is administered by the Local Authority Waters Programme.
Carrigaholt Development Association is the greatest beneficiary in Clare, receiving €38,780 for enhancement of water quality, biodiversity recovery and community-led stewardship.
Restore Ballymacraven River Association has been given €37,500 for the third phase of its restoration plan while the Lough Atorick Catchment Management Association has been allocated €25,000 for works involving water quality and biodiversity.
Other successful groups in Clare include Doonbeg Community Development, Lough Graney Nature Sanctuary, the Woodland League, Lough Derg Anglers Association and Quin Village Tidy Towns Group.
When it comes to the Catchment Support Fund, through which 56 groups across the country have received funding, five Clare organisations have been supported.
These are Restore Ballymacraven River Association, Carrigaholt Development Association, Lough Graney Nature Sanctuary, Lough Atorick Catchment Management Association and Shannon Town Community Wetlands.
