Dismissed speeding charges from Clare could be challenged in the High Court

New laws will not be needed to deal with legal challenges to the GoSafe speed cameras.

That's according to the Gardaí, who have told the government that there is no major flaw in the law.

98 cases of speeding were struck out at Ennis District Court in October with Judge Patrick Durcan raising legal concerns over whether GoSafe staff are allowed to present evidence in court.

A similar decision was taken by a Monaghan court last week but Junior minister Aodhan Ó Riordáin has told the Dáil that Gardaí may consider appealing these cases to higher courts.
