Deployment Of Vehicle-Moving System Hailed As “Huge Step Forward” For Shannon Airport

The deployment of state-of-the-art vehicle-moving technology at Shannon Airport is being hailed as a “huge move forward” for safety at the facility.

The Clare base has become the first airport in Ireland to have a First-Mover R-3500 electric vehicle-moving system.

The device will allow the airport, 50% of the fleet of which is now electrified, to move electric vehicles in the event that they break down or go on fire.

Deputy Chief Officer of Shannon’s Airport Police Fire Service, Mark Browne, says it’ll allow staff to relocate EVs without creating an unnecessary fire hazard.
