The Department of Housing says it’s received no funding application from Clare County Council to progress the Ennis Northern Inner Relief Road.
The proposed route that would act as a bypass from the Gort Road to the Lahinch Road will cost up to €15m to complete and has the potential to unlock lands for 260 new homes.
In a correspondence issued to the local authority, however, the office of Housing Minister James Browne says they’ve received no application from the council to progress the works to date under the Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund.
Despite this, Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare-Colleran Molloy is confident funding will be secured in due course.
