Decision Due Today On Apples €850m Athenry Data Centre

A decision is due this morning on the future of Apple’s proposed €850m data centre in Athenry, Co. Galway.

Work was due to get underway this year but the project was delayed due to a legal challenge to its planning permission.

Tech giant Apple will find out later if they’ll finally get the go-ahead for their data centre in Athenry Co Galway.

An objection to their planning permission has delayed the project for 2 years.

Critics say the building would have a significant impact on the nature site on which it’s to be built and claim a proper environmental assessment was never carried out.

It’s now up to Justice Paul McDermott in the Commercial court to decide.
