Five Clare Homes That Tested Positive For Pyrite Only “The Tip Of The Iceberg”

It’s claimed that five homes in Clare that have tested positive for Pyrite are only the tip of the iceberg.

A number of households, particularly in the East and South East, say they have large cracks and holes around their homes caused by the mineral and recent test samples taken from five of them have returned conclusive results.

Last year, the Government made 20 million euro available to homeowners whose properties are affected by pyrite in Donegal and Mayo, but Clare homeowners are still fighting to be included in the scheme.

The Clare Pyrite Action Group is travelling to Dublin next Tuesday to join forces with campaigners from other counties.
