A south Clare village is said to be forced into shutdown on a regular basis due to outdated water infrastructure.
On foot of a notice of motion from Cratloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat O’Gorman, Shannon Municipal District has written to Uisce Éireann requesting an upgrade of the water main that delivers water to the village.

It’s understood the pipe is no longer fit for purpose and that the area has experienced water outages three times in May alone.
Councillor O’Gorman says businesses in the locality frequently find themselves unable to operate due to supply disruptions.
