Clare County Council is looking to bolster its presence on twitter.

The Council has been urged to follow the example of Galway County Council, which has used the website to send out over 7,000 messages to its 5,500 followers.
A twitter account registered in the name of Clare County Council has not sent any tweets since it was opened in May of 2011.
Councillors have been told that the use of social media is under review by the local authority, and that other local authorities are being studied to establish best practice in the event that a new policy is implemented.
