Clare County Council is urging landowners and community groups to apply for a hedge-cutting grant.
The local authority aims to bolster its own hedge-cutting programme by allowing residents to maintain overgrowth.

Applications for the Community Hedge Cutting Grant Scheme are open until September 30th and successful applicants will recieve a grant of €50 per km of hedgerow.
The council says the scheme will provide financial assistance to groups that undertake hedge-cutting and the cutting of overhanging trees, and will assist landowners in complying with their responsibilities under Section 70 of the Roads Act, 1993.
