Clare County Council has committed to examining the effectiveness, cost and operational issues associated with a new initiative to clamp down on illegal parking.
Clarecastle Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom O’Callaghan has proposed introducing a text alert scheme to enable people to report the illegal parking of vehicles in disabled parking bays.

The system is currently in place in the likes of Gorey in Wexford and Lucan in Dublin.
Councillor O’Callaghan says bad driver behaviour has prompted the call.
