Clare County Council say it intends to make extra vehicle charging points available along the coast once it receives funding to do so.
It comes as local representatives have called for the amenities to be installed urgently in order to facilitate those on staycations and travelling through the West of Ireland.
The local authority says once it receives the appropriate funding, it will develop a strategy and identify ‘prime locations’ for the charging points.
