The CEO of Clare County Council has effectively shot down any possibility of the local authority buying the former Our Lady’s Hospital in Ennis.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the local authority, Pat Dowling says a feasability survey shows that it is financially prohibitive for the council to make the purchase.
A number of local representatives had spoken in favour of buying the site, which did not sell at an online auction last week.
However, it is up for sale again on the same site tomorrow.
Councillors are due to discuss the matter at this morning’s Ennis Municipal District Meeting, but Pat Dowling’s remarks appear to have poured cold water on it being purchased by the local authority.
