Shannon Heritage Sites ‘Could Re-Open For €4m’

The Dáil has heard a suggestion that Shannon Heritage sites could be kept open for a year if government funding of four million euro was provided.

Shannon Group has made a submission to the government seeking funding to help it keep its tourism sites open, including Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and King John’s Castle.

The four million figure was cited by Limerick TD Kieran O’Donnell, who said this was understood to be the amount sought by Shannon Group to open the sites year-round.

Transport Minister Eamonn Ryan has agreed that Shannon Group will need support.
