An Ennis restaurateur believes the hospitality industry should have received guidance on the reopening of indoor dining sooner than it has.

Cabinet Ministers are expected to sign off on guidelines today allowing pubs and restaurants to serve indoors from next Monday, as long as the President signs off on the legislation.

They’ll have to close at 11.30pm and work is under way on an app to scan Digital Covid Certs for access.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland says it expects time limits for indoor dining to be scrapped, though the service will only be available for the fully vaccinated, those who’ve recently recovered from COVID-19 or children under 18 accompanied by fully vaccinated guardians.

Dermot Fetton of Henry’s Bistro & Wine Bar in Ennis says he has a plan in place to open up next week, but for the moment it’s a waiting game.
