Concern is being expressed in Clare that farmers won’t see the benefits of a €9 billion rise in agri-food exports.
Food Wise 2025, the government strategy to grow the sector, is targeting annual exports of €19 billion by that year, up from the €10 billion in 2015.

As things stand, the agri-food sector is already Ireland’s largest indigenous industry and some progress has already been made in hitting the 2025 target.
But Cratloe-based General Secretary Eddie Punch fears the boost in finances isn’t making its way down to the farmer on the ground.
