Clare’s first home composing demonstration site offically opens at the Shannon Allotments with 12 Master Composter volunteers available to provide information on food waste prevention.

This initiative follows an EPA survey that reveals the average person in Ireland throws out 300kg of organic scraps each annually from homes which can be very costly on the pocket.
The composting demonstration site provides advice and training on how individuals can reduce the generation of these materials and safely manage them to create useful mulches and soil amendments.
