A community group representing Ennis retailers has branded former members of Clare County Council’s executive team “reprobates” for their handling of local business owners’ concerns.
It comes as the local authority has declared its intention to explore a new ‘Rediscover Ennis’ initiative aimed at maximing the benefit of the recently-completed public realm project.
The proposal, which was put forward by Fianna Fáil Councillor Antoinette Baker-Bashua, would see music played on speakers, musicians placed in strategic areas and the opening of overflow car parks free of charge on weekends.
Retailers of Ennis Chairperson and owner of Custy’s Music Shop, John O’Connor, says it’s positive to see the council attempting to market the town more aggressively.
