One of the key figures in the premier Irish traditional music movement is hailing Clare for being one of the first counties to lend its support.
Founded in 1951, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

The organisation promotes Irish music, song and dance in 22 countries with the aid of roughly 50,000 volunteers.
Its Ardstiúrthóir, Labhrás Ó Murchú, says the fact that traditional music was a “living tradition” in Clare at the time of the movement’s establishment proved to be of great benefit.
