Clare’s Top Garda Warns Kilrush Locals Not To Take Matters Into Their Own Hands

Clare’s top Garda is urging people in Kilrush to bring matters of concern over drug misuse to them, and not to take matters into their own hands.

It follows claims raised at the Joint Policing Committee that local people are frustrated by a spate of break-ins by addicts to cars parked in the town.

Cllr Ian Lynch warned there could be an element of vigilantism, following 24 break-ins to vehicles in the first nine months of the year.

But Chief Superintendent John Kerin says a recently-appointed community Garda is the person to contact.
