A Clare Lotto player who won €1 million in September has now claimed their prize.
The winning ticket was bought at Spar in Lisdoonvarna during the town’s famous matchmaking festival.
The winner says they had been carrying the ticket around without realising it was worth €1 million, and are now looking forward to holidays and creating their dream home.
“I never thought to check my ticket,” the winner said. “I’d been driving around with it all the time without realising it was worth €1 million.”
When the ticket was eventually checked, the news came as a huge shock.
The winner immediately shared the discovery with family and loved ones, prompting an emotional response. “There were tears of joy,” they recalled.
Speaking at National Lottery headquarters while collecting the prize, the Clare player said they’re still processing the win and are looking forward to taking some time to let it all sink in.
“I’m looking forward to breathing and taking it all in,” they said.
While there are no immediate plans to make any dramatic changes, the winner is excited about the opportunities that the prize presents. Holidays are high on the wish list, while a dream home is also firmly in their sights.
“Having the chance to create my dream home is something I’m really looking forward to.”
For now, the Clare winner is focused on enjoying the moment, celebrating with loved ones, and taking the first steps towards making some long held dreams a reality!
Another Clare player has also collected a €42,031 Lotto prize after matching five numbers and the bonus in the September 9th draw.
