Clare’s 150 Psychiatric Nurses Begin Campaign Of Industrial Action

The Psychiatric Nurses Association begins its campaign of industrial action from today.

It follows the first in a series of 24-hour strikes by the INMO, which has just ended, with hospitals warning of potential disruption and an expected surge in patients at emergency departments today.

The PNA has banned its members, including around 150 nurses in Clare, from carrying out overtime today, with a further overtime ban on four more days this month and planned strike days next month.

The action is being escalated as part of a row over pay and recruitment and the union’s Midwest representative, Denis Meehan, who works in the Clare Mental Health Service, says they’re simply unable to continue as they are:
