A Clare woman living with two chronic illnesses is urging people suffering with digestive issues not to give up advocating and fighting for themselves.
Despite being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2000 and subsequently MS, 29-year-old Sarah Collins has built a career in digital marketing, contributes to research at the University of Galway, and raises awareness of chronic illness through advocacy and social media.
Today marks World IBD Day and to coincide with it, Crohn’s and Colitis Ireland has launched a new hands-on guide on supporting people with inflammatory bowel disease, as part of the “It Takes A Village” campaign.
Crusheen native Sarah says living with both illnesses has been a “constant juggling act,” affecting everything from daily energy levels to treatment options, but she says educating herself about the conditions has made daily life more manageable.
