Clare's tourism industry is hoping for a welcome boost this summer after 11 beaches were awarded prestigeous awards.
Nine Blue flags and two green coast awards have been awarded across the coast of Clare, in recognition of extremely high standards in water quality.
Applications were made by Clare county Council for eleven beaches across Clare to be recognised for their high water standards
Beaches at Whitestrand, Miltown Malbay, and in Spanish Point have regained their flags, while they have also been retained at Ballycuggernan, Whitestrand Doonbeg, Mountshannon, Cappa, Fanore, Kilkee and Lahinch.
Two others at Bishops Quarter at Ballyvaughan and Quilty have been given green coast awards.
Brian Cooney from Quilty Tavern hopes the awards will boost confidence in the beach at Quilty, and see more people go there this summer.
Spanish Point Councillor Michael Hillary has welcomed the return of the Blue Flag there.
He's confident it will go a long way towards attracting tourists to the area and he belives it's evidence of the huge amount of work carried out to improve standards on Clare's beaches.
