A Clare Government TD is urging Bus Éireann to allow drivers over the age of 70 to help with the school transport scheme.
The operator has previously stood by its ban on older drivers operating school buses, which it says is for safety reasons.

The company is appearing before the Oireachtas Education Committee this afternoon, to discuss how to ensure no child is left without transport.
Committee Chair, Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe says with record numbers expected this year, a change in policy could ease the burden.
