A Clare Government TD insists it shouldn’t be left up to developers to decide what level of community engagement on an infrastructure project is good enough.
Bodyke Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney has declared his intention to bring forward a private members bill in the Dáil that would compel public bodies and private developers to carry out a certain standard of community engagement.

Lack of public consultation is a frequent complaint of Clare residents regarding the likes of renewable energy projects.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Cooney says statutory standards must be introduced.
