Clare TD Says Fine Gael Won’t Be In Disarray Following Sudden Exit Of Finance Minister

Clare’s Fine Gael TD insists his party and the Government will not be thrown into dissaray by the sudden departure of the Finance Minister.

Pascal Donohoe will resign from cabinet today and as a TD for Dublin Central later this week to take up position as Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer of the World Bank in Washington DC.

Donohoe is the longest serving Cabinet Minister, having first held the tourism brief in 2014 ; and a major shake up is now in store, with Tánaiste Simon Harris mooted to take up the Finance role and for Helen McEntee or Hildegarde Naughton to move into Foreign Affairs.

Bodyke Deputy Joe Cooney has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that he believes the Government will adapt to the challenge.
