A Clare TD has criticised the Tanaiste for what she’s described as “outlandish” remarks on religion.
In an interview, Leo Varadkar claimed that Sinn Féin was sectarian and anti-British, and also that it has no Protestant TDs, MLAs, or Senators.
He’s since retracted these comments and apologised personally to Clare TD Violet Anne Wynne, herself a Protestant.
Deputy Wynne believes the Tanaiste shouldn’t have said the remarks in the first place, and argued that his remarks were “divisive.”
