Clare Pharmacist Expects New Prescription Rules To Benefit All Health Services

A Clare Pharmacist is expecting new prescription rules to benefit all health services in the MidWest.

Over 94% of pharmacies nationwide have now received training for the common conditions service, which will allow them to directly prescribe treatments for eight minor illnesses, including UTIs, thrush and shingles.

The Department of Health claims the new system will help to reduce waiting times and backlogs for GPs, Primary Care Centres and Hospitals.

Feidhlim Hillery of Hillery’s Pharmacy in Shannon believes it will have the desired effect.
