Clare’s Sinn Féin representative claims people here are living in what he’s described as a “suicide box”.
It comes as figures show men are seven times more likely than women to take their own lives in this county, which is higher than the national average.

Almost 400 people died by suicide in Ireland last year, marking the lowest level in over 20 years.
But Shannon Councillor Mike McKee believes the figures don’t reflect reality:
