The Clare man newly appointed as Assistant Chief of Staff of Defence Forces is confident of enhancing Ireland’s international reputation.

Brigadier General Neil Nolan has over 35 years experience as a Proffesional Infantry Officer, including numerous deployments with the UN and Nato, involving tours of Lebanon, Chad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.

As part of his new role, the Kilkee native has military oversight of the Defence Force’s capability development.

Neil says its vital that Ireland can protect itself against existential threats.
