The Chairperson of Clare’s Local Community Safety Partnership says the lack of media access to the forum isn’t a “real concern”.
The second meeting of the partnership, which consists of local elected representatives, community stakeholders and members of An Garda Síochána, took place behind closed doors on April 1st.
A three-page report sent to Clare FM states that “all media engagement or promotion of LCSP activities will be coordinated through the Chair” and that “a meeting report will be shared with media, and minutes and newsletters will be published on the LCSP website”.
PJ Ryan says allowing media outlets to attend the meetings, as was the case when the Joint Policing Committee model was still in existence, is a matter for the Minister for Justice.
