Clare Green Senator Claims Carbon Tax Increase Will Have Positive Consequences

Clare’s Green Party Senator claims the benefits of the carbon tax increase will outweigh the negatives for bill payers.

As part of the measures announced in budget 2024, the charge has risen from €48.50 to 56 euro per tonne.

This means petrol prices are up 2 cents a litre today, with diesel up 2.5 cents per litre, despite the Government deferring the re-instatement of excise duty rises until April and August of next year.
