One of the county’s chief fire offical’s has warned householders to make sure smoke alarms are working correctly ahead of the Xmas period after fires claimed the lives of four people at the weekend.

A mother,father and daughter were killed in Leitrim on Saturday while a man in his 70’s perished in a blaze in Cork last night.
A family in Ennis were also treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns after a house fire on the Clon road in Ennis on Friday.
